Epichem undertakes a wide variety of custom syntheses for its clients, ranging from simple preparations to extremely complex, difficult and even highly speculative syntheses that have no literature precedence.
Epichem has different pricing models to match the various levels of uncertainty inherent in a particular synthesis.
1. Fixed Fee
2. Batch Pricing
This quote provides an estimate of the amount of material produced, but the actual amount could be more or less depending upon how well the chemistry works. Batch pricing is used for relatively simple processes but where the cost of reagents or starting materials is unusually high and/or the expected yield of the reaction cannot be predicted. This model provides the client with certainty in the cost, but the client accepts a risk in the quantity of material received.
3. Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Pricing
This model is primarily used for large research projects or syntheses which are either very long or involve problematic chemistry that have poor literature precedence. The client pays for the chemists’ time spent on the project where deliverables may change or new deliverables are added during the course of the project at the client’s request.
FTE projects are very flexible with regular reporting to the client on the progress of their project. These projects are invoiced on a monthly basis at the end of each calendar month and rates vary depending on the minimum length the client commits to.
Daily and weekly FTE rates are based on 8hrs and 40hrs of the chemist’s time respectively. Monthly and yearly FTE rates are based on a calendar month and year respectively. FTE charges are calculated on a pro-rata basis if they complete at an odd interval (e.g. 1.4 months).
Both monthly and yearly FTE rates include pro-rata leave entitlements.
